Immanuel is one of 17 congregations in Berks County that hosts homeless families in its facility several times during the year. There are 8 partner congregations involved in the network.  Immanuel and its partner, Grace Lutheran in Shillington work closely together to serve and meet the needs of our guests. Family Promise is a 24 hour  a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year service that provides temporary accomodations for homeless families. The program enables congregations and individuals of all faiths to work together to provide a safe, homelike environment where families can stay together in private sleeping spaces. Volunteers provide breakfast, lunch, a hot evening meal, and fellowship. Volunteer training is provided as needed.    

Families may stay in the network 45 to 90 days providing they are adhering to guest guidelines and making progress in their efforts toward self-sufficiency.
