Immanuel Music & Arts Programs
Music and Arts at Immanuel

Music plays an integral role in the life and worship of our church. Central to our philosophy of music is the concept of congregational participation. Whether it takes the form of singing an anthem in one of our choirs, playing an instrument, or singing a hymn from the pew, it is our goal to incorporate every member of this worshipping community into the musical life of the parish.

Immanuel has a strong tradition of choral and instrumental music. Our current program includes:

Cherub: the goal of this choir is for all the children (age 4-Grade 1) to enjoy music through Christian fellowship. At each rehearsal they will have opportunities to learn about music and their faith by singing bible songs, hymns, and folk songs, using dramatization, improvisation, and movement, playing rhythm instruments and Orff instruments. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 5:00-5:40 p.m. More Info - Performance Schedule

Junior Choir: Children (grades 2-6) will be given the opportunity to interact in a caring atmosphere with the following concepts: to understand God's love for each of them, to be able to fulfill God's desire to serve the Christian community in song, to develop a basic understanding of musical symbols and terms, to experience the singing and learning of some new and traditional hums of the church, and to develop a rudimentary understanding of the techniques involved in singing and ringing. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Performance Schedule

Youth Choir: for young people in grade 7-12. This choir rehearses on Sunday mornings and sings in church about 4 times a year. Also, the Youth Choir can have the opportunity to lead music at the Contemporary Worship Service. Rehearsals are announced in the church bulletin and newsletter. More Info - Performance Schedule

Chimers: - for children in grades 4 and up. This choir learns the basic techniques of ringing as well as improving sight reading and improving musicality. Like the Junior Choir, this group plays in church about once a month. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings, 5:50-6:30 p.m. More Info - Performance Schedule

Handbell Choir: open to anyone from grade 8 to adult. An ability to read music is a necessity for playing in this choir. Rehearsals stress good ringing technique, sight reading, improving musicianship and ensemble skills. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings, 8:00-9:00 p.m. Performance Schedule

Senior Choir: made up of young people and adults. This choir provides music at the 10:30 liturgy each week, as well as the many special liturgies held throughout the year. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Performance Schedule

Instrumentalists are encouraged to let us know of your talent. Instruments are a welcome addition to our liturgies, either individually or in ensembles. Every effort will be made to use interested players as often as possible.

We invite all members of Immanuel's congregation to join one of our choirs. If interested please come to a rehearsal or contact one of the music directors through the church office by calling 610-777-7107.
