What is the Prayer Network?

• It is an opportunity for the congregation to keep its members in prayer when special prayers are in order.
• It is an opportunity for members to know that their fellow members are remembering them in prayer during a difficult time in their lives.
• It is a system of personal and confidential prayer and concern shared in the privacy of one's home and personal life.
• It is a way members can be mutually supportive of one another.
• It is a network of concerned people who work with the church's clergy in offering personal prayers for one another.

How Does It Work?

• Someone asks that prayers be offered.
• The clergy become aware of a prayer need.
• One of the clergy makes the first contact to the coordinator of the Prayer Network.
• The Coordinator calls the first person on each "line" of the Prayer Network.
• Each person on the network has a list and calls the next person on his/her list.
• The phone calls are made and each individual, in the privacy of her/his home offers appropriate prayers for those concerns passed along.

What are the Expectations

• A willingness to offer sincere prayer for other church members in crisis.
• A willingness to pass on phoned information as accurately as possible.
• A willingness to keep in confidence information that is shared in the Network.
• A willingness to meet once a month for one hour. At that time you will receive an update from the clergy and spend time studying prayer.

How Long?

• A member of the Prayer Network may "step out" of the Network at any time.

Who leads this Program?

• The Associate Pastor for Parish Life is responsible for overseeing this ministry.
• A lay coordinator assists in the functioning of the Network.
