Immanuel UCC Youth Choir

The Youth Choir sings once a month at either traditional or contemporary worship. For the traditional worship service, the children wear gowns and need to report at 10:00 a.m. to gown and warm-up. For the contemporary service, casual clothes are fine.

GOALS

Children will be given the opportunity to interact in a caring atmosphere in order to achieve the following concepts:

* to understand God's love for them

* to be able to fulfill God's desire to serve the Christian community in song

* to develop a basic understanding of musical symbols and terms

* to sing and learn new and traditional hymns of the church

* to develop a rudimentary understanding of the techniques involved in singing and ringing

REHEARSALS

Our rehearsals are held each Tuesday evening from 5:50-6:30 p.m. for chimers (in the bell room) and 6:30-7:30 p.m. for the Junior Choir. We begin each rehearsal with a bible devotion. Children may take turns reading the scripture. We discuss God’s word and pray. We sing contemporary Christian songs, traditional hymns, and focus on our choir anthem. We play musical games, perform movement activities and play xylophones and percussion instruments. We conclude by singing “Shalom Good Friends”
