Welcome to the Junior and Chimer Choirs. We sing and ring once a month at traditional worship (9:00am). Children will wear gowns and will need to report at 8:40am to gown and warm up.
Children will be given the opportunity to interact in a caring atmosphere in order to achieve the following concepts:
to understand God's love for them
to be able to fulfill God's desire to serve the Christian community in song
to develop a basic understanding of musical symbols and terms
to sing and learn new and traditional hymns of the church
to develop a rudimentary understanding of the techniques involved in singing and ringing
Our rehearsals are held each Tuesday evening from 6:30-7:30 p.m. We begin each rehearsal with a bible devotion. Children may take turns reading the scripture. We discuss God's word and pray. We sing contemporary Christian songs, traditional hymns, and focus on our choir anthem. We play musical games, perform movement activities and play xylophones and percussion instruments. We conclude by singing “Shalom Good Friends”.
Halloween Party: The kids should plan to come to choir in costume. We will have a Halloween Party with food and fun that evening. Parents can watch too.
Gowns: The children will be fitted with choir gowns during our first three rehearsals. Parents will need to wash the gown to prepare for our first singing date.
Chimers: This group is open to children who play a musical instrument and can read music. We are looking for new members.
Accompanist: We are blessed to have Mrs. Glenda Hoppe as our piano accompanist. We thank her in advance for her time and talent.
Junior Choir Christmas Musical: An annual chistmas cantata will be performed on Christmas Eve at the 4:30 p.m. service.
Choir Parents: If you are available to help with parties, the musical, or various Sundays that we sing, please let me know. I can always use help.
Thank you for supporting your child's participation in the Junior Choir. Parents are welcome to attend rehearsal at any time. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions. I look forward to sharing music with your child.
